Founded in 1983, Bishop Hamilton Montessori School is a CCMA-accredited, not-for-profit independent school offering a Christian Montessori education to 200 students in the Ottawa area.

Join Our Team

We’re currently searching for a full-time Senior Administrator to join our small but mighty administrative team. In this position, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of school operations, liaising with parents, teachers and support staff, and managing a wide variety of other admin tasks with professional aplomb.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage office reception, serving as first point of contact for students, parents, staff and visitors.
  • Manage School Director’s schedule, ensuring that issues are triaged effectively.
  • Arrange coverage for teaching staff absences.
  • Maintain student files and records.
  • Support the monitoring and resolution of student absences.
  • Manage Human Resources tasks such as personnel records management, new employee orientation, vacation and attendance tracking, and HR system maintenance and optimization.
  • Participate in school events and activities, contributing to the School Community and spirit.
  • Manage a myriad of other admin tasks, from scheduling to event planning to facilities management and IT troubleshooting.
  • Consistently model BHMS values of excellence, respect, learning and community, helping to foster a nurturing and vibrant educational environment.

Key Qualifications

  • Significant experience in a busy, varied administrative role. School experience is a very strong asset.
  • Professionalism, tact, discretion and maturity are absolutely essential. This is a job for a true admin specialist.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities / deadlines.
  • Warm and engaging demeanour.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills – oral and written.
  • Strong familiarity and comfort with office equipment and software. Experience troubleshooting basic software issues is a very strong asset.
  • Experience in HR-related tasks is a strong asset.
  • Super organized; a natural multi-tasker.
  • Reliable, with a high level of integrity.
  • Team player; collegial and easy to work with; flexible and adaptable; keen to learn and develop.

Hours

6:30 / 7:00am – 3:00 / 3:30pm
