Description

RBR creates instruments to measure the blue planet. The effects of climate change are being seen from the ocean’s abyss to the polar ice caps. Our sensors quantify this change to support better analysis, improved planning, and more effective mitigation strategies for our customers.

About the Role

As a Buyer at RBR, you will be an active member of our Supply Chain Management team. You will be responsible for strategic sourcing, assisting with new product introduction, measuring supplier performance, negotiating cost reductions, and play a crucial role in overall supply chain management. You're well-organized and have excellent attention to detail. You understand the nuances of building relationships with your internal clients and external vendors and suppliers, and you work effectively to provide prompt and responsive support to address supply chain-related needs.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure the timely procurement of all materials and services while maintaining quality and competitive value
  • Establish and follow processes and procedures related to lead times and purchase requisitions
  • Generate orders in accordance with ERP/MRP and/or customer requirements
  • Manage systems used for procurement
  • Prepare KPI reports related to purchasing activities
  • Coordinate all supplier non-conformances and obtain preventative actions, subsequent credits, refunds or replacements
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers
  • Negotiate supplier contracts, agreements and letters of intent to obtain favourable price, terms and conditions for materials and services
  • Evaluate supplier performance (price, OTD, lead time), prepare feedback, and administer improvement programs
  • Adhere to and enforce compliance with purchasing policies, procedures, regulations and laws
  • Any other related duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • College diploma with a minimum of ten (10) years’ work experience in sourcing/supply chain management or the equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – must have strong skills with Excel
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and takes initiative
  • Self-directed with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills

Job Assets

  • Experience with purchasing Metal, Plastic and Electronics components
  • Solid understanding of MRP and demand-pull scheduling practices
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
