Looking for a way to get your employees active and involved in the community this fall?
There is a great team building opportunity on the horizon for Ottawa based companies. On September 11, 2016 The Ottawa Hospital Foundation (TOHF), is hosting their annual fundraising event, THE RIDE.
THE RIDE is a one-day cycling fundraiser supporting innovative cancer research at The Ottawa Hospital. In just six years, THE RIDE has become the most successful single-day cancer fundraiser in Eastern Ontario, raising more than $10 million for research right here in Ottawa.
The Business Sherpa Group is a proud supplier to TOHF, and believes strongly in what they are doing to support research, treatment and patient care at the Ottawa Hospitals.
In addition to encouraging employees to get out and get active with some of their colleagues, it is also an opportunity to give back to the community and gain some visibility for your organization in the Ottawa market.
What is it?
THE RIDE offers two cycling route options that start from Tunney’s Pasture: 50km closed route and a 108km scenic route. It is predominately made up of teams that are anchored by business leaders and supported corporately (90% of teams were corporate in 2015).
Who can do it?
Businesses of all sizes can get involved, and you don’t need star athletes to participate. THE RIDE offers group riding and safety training throughout the summer, so there is an ongoing opportunity for your employees to spend time together outside of work.
To build team engagement, you could set up scheduled office training rides, or start a ride-to-work initiative to help everyone prepare for the event.
The required fundraising per individual is $1,500, so sign up early to give your employees time to tap into their networks and fundraise for a great cause.
How does it help?
THE RIDE is your opportunity to improve patient care, as well as the quality of life of our loved ones who are battling this disease.
Past rides have helped fund new therapies and the opening of the Centre for Innovative Cancer Research (CICR), and have enabled patients to benefit from clinical trials faster than ever before.
If you think that you would be interested in putting together a team to participate in THE RIDE, we would be more than happy to pass along your contact information to one of TOHF corporate representatives who would then drop off a marketing kit to you.
